Multiple passengers and crew were hurt when a Delta Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia encountered significant turbulence this past Friday.
Delta Flight 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier informed. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Local paramedics reported they evaluated five individuals, and took a trio to a medical facility with minor injuries that included pain in the back and headaches. The injured were between their 30s to 70s.
This marks the most recent case of aircraft encountering atmospheric disturbance, with experts saying that shifting climate patterns is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the official added, stating that the plane landed "safely" at Sydney Airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they were alerted just three minutes ahead of the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
