Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
